Telangana Election Results 2018: After huge win, KCR eyes national politics

Telangana and its capital city Hyderabad came under a wave of pink on Tuesday, when the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) pulled off a massive victory against the Congress-led grand alliance.

Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is all set to form the government in the state for the second time. KCR won by over 50,000 votes from the Gajwel assembly constituency. His son KTR Rama Rao snatched victory from the Congress led grand alliance in Sircilla.
KCR led Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) won 88 seats of the 119 assembly seats, according the Election Commission website. Congress won 19 seats.
Telangana, the youngest state of India, went to polls on December 7 to elect its second assembly. This is the first election in Telangana after the state was created in 2014. Around 70 per cent people exercised their voting rights in Telangana Assembly Elections, according to the Election Commission.
Telangana was supposed to have its second election in May, 2019. However, the chief minister of the state, K Chandrasekhar Rao, dissolved the assembly in September 2018 and announced for early election.
Major political parties:
Telangana Rashtra Samiti , Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Congress, Telangana Jana Samithi, Communist Party of India, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and BJP — are the major political parties contesting for the 119 seats in Telanagana seats. Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI formed a grand alliance ‘Praja Kutami’ to defeat K Chandrasekhar Rao’s TRS. BJP is contesting alone. A total of 1,821 candidates participated in the poll fray.

 People reposed faith in KCR leadership: T Harish Rao
“The people reposed faith in the leadership of our chief minister and they did not believe in the disinformation campaign of the opposition,” said T Harish Rao, a minister and nephew of Chandrasekhar Rao. T Harish Rao won the Siddipet seat by a staggering 1,18,499 votes said. TRS managed to get an impressive 86 seats so far out of the total 119, leaving the Congress-led alliance behind in the dust

The Congress has clinched 13 seats so far and is leading in six. Its ally TDP is leading in two seats.
