Recently Pope Francis rang in the New Year with a festive celebration during his weekly gathering in the Vatican City. After being surrounded by a group of Cuban circus performers made him twirl a football on his fingers.

The rare playful side of Pope Francis was seen by a large audience. as he tried his hand at ball twirling on his fingers.

But as soon as the ball fell off, pope smiled and laughed it off.

Around 20 performers from the Circo Cuba performed acrobatic moves and danced to salsa music at the Pope VI hall.

Pope, who was seen clapping throughout also gave a double thumbs up to the performers at the end of the show.
