Priyanka Gandhi joins brother Rahul to take on Modi

Priyanka Gandhi's big political plunge before 2019 general election
The Congress party has finally exposed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to mainstream politics, as she has been appointed as the AICC general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East).
In a note issued by general secretary Ashok Gehlot, it has been informed that Priyanka will assume power in the first week of February, 2019.
This is the first official position held by Priyanka. The Gandhi scion has always shied away from active politics citing personal reasons.
The move is being seen as one to strengthen the party's hold in the Hindi heartland state of Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2019 general election.
This comes in the aftermath of the Congress party securing astounding victory in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan in the recently concluded assembly elections.
Meanwhile, Jyotiraditya Scindia was appointed AICC general secretary for UP West, a party spokesperson said.
The party also replaced Ashok Gehlot as AICC general secretary Organisation with K C Venugopal.
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad was appointed AICC general secretary in charge of Haryana, the party said.
