Redmi 7 launching on March 18 with Redmi Note 7-like design, confirms Xiaomi

Last week Xiaomi announced that the Redmi Note 7 Pro will go official in China on March 18. The company now reveals that alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro Xiaomi will launch the long-time rumoured Redmi 7. On Monday Redmi President Lu Weibing officially revealed that Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro in Beijing on March 18.
We already know everything about the Redmi Note 7 Pro considering the phone saw its global debut in India on Feb 28. Meanwhile, the Redmi 7 has been subjected to several leaks and rumours of late. In fact, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has revealed some key specs and expected price of the Redmi 7 via a Weibo post some days ago.
In one of the latest Weibo post Jun said that he expects Redmi 7 to get "tremendous response". Jun further said that for the Redmi 7 the company "must prepare a large amount of stock." Looks like the company has high expectations from the Redmi 7. Xiaomi is yet to reveal about the Redmi 7 India launch. But considering Redmi 5 and Redmi 6 made to the country the upcoming the Redmi 7 may also come to India soon.
In another Weibo post Jun revealed that the Redmi 7 will come equipped with 3.5mm headphone jack and an infrared blaster which is also there in the Redmi Note 7 series phones. The Redmi 7 is also confirmed to pack a large battery. The TENAA listing had revealed that the Redmi 7 will come with 4000mAh battery.
Jun also revealed that the Redmi 7 will cost between 700 Yuan and 800 Yuan in China. In terms of design the Redmi 7 will more or less look like the Redmi Note 7 series of phones. Unlike the Note the Redmi 7 will come with a polycarbonate back and not glass.

Redmi 7 specs

Last week, a picture and the complete specs sheet of the Redmi 7 was leaked, thanks of the TENAA listing. The benchmark listing revealed that the Redmi 7 will come packed with a 6.26-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution. The phone is said to include 1520 x 720 pixels resolution and aspect ratio of 19:9.
On the hardware front, the Redmi 7 will be powered by an octa-core processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The TENAA listing suggests that the Redmi 7 will come in three variants -- 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage, 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage. The phone is expected to come in funky colours like blue, black, pink, red, among others.
On the rear panel, the Redmi 7 will include two cameras while on the front there will be a single camera embedded inside the Dot drop notch. On the back the Redmi 7 is expected to include a 12MP camera while the configuration of the second rear camera is yet to be revealed. On the front, the TENAA listing shows the Redmi 7 with an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone is said to launch with Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10.
