In an embarrassment for the Congress, Congress leader Adhir Ranjhan Chowdhury said Article 370 was not an internal matter.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Adhir Ranjhan Chowdhury engaged in a heated debate in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after the Congress leaders asked the Home Minister to clarify why the issue of Article 370 was not being considered a bilateral one.
"You say that it is an internal matter. But it is being monitored since 1948 by the UN, is that an internal matter? We signed Shimla Agreement & Lahore Declaration, what that an internal matter or bilateral?" Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury asked the Home Minister.

Saying that S Jaishankar earlier told US not to interfere in Kashmir as it was a bilateral matter, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury asked, "Can J&K still be an internal matter? We want to know. Entire Congress party wants to be enlightened by you."
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s remarks on Kashmir led to a war of words with Amit Shah asking the Congress leader if he considered PoK as a part of India. "Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of the Union of India," Amit Shah said as he asked Congress to clarify its stand on Kashmir and if it wanted the United Nations to take decisions for Kashmir.
Saying they will sacrifice their lives for the nation, Amit Shah quipped, "Jaan de denge iske liye! When I say J&K it also includes PoK. The boundaries of J&K as mentioned in our constitution includes PoK and Aksai Chin."
Congress's Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s comments came he slammed the Centre for scrapping Article 370 by going against all rules of the Constitution overnight.
